What Is Microblading?
Microblading, also refer to as Eyebrow Embroidery, Feather Stroke Brows, 3d Brows, or micro-pigmentation, is the process of manually implanting color pigment beneath the surface of the skin by tiny, sterile, disposable needles to produce the appearance of hair strokes.
How long does microblading last?
Since microblading pigments are not implanted into the skin as deep as traditional tattoos, the area will naturally fade overtime. Microblading typically last 1-3 years, depending on the skin type (normal, oily, dry), age (youthful, mature). Skincare routine will also affect the lasting effect of the pigment, using products with AHA or Glycolic Acid with fade faster. To maintain the brows looking fresh, a touch us is require every year.
How Is Microblading Different From Tattooing/Permanent Makeup?
The microblading pen is 3 times thinner than a tattoo needle, making it more precise and much more painless than a tattoo machine. Tattooing carries a much greater risk of blown out lines and pigment “spilling” under the skin. Microblading allows for much finer, subtler lines. Microblading fades and generally requires refreshment on a yearly basis. Tattoos are permanent. Microblading pigment doesn’t change color as it fades. Cosmetic tattoo pigment can fade into blue, red, pink or grey. As your personal style changes, your microblading can easily change with it. Tattoos requires intensive laser/chemical treatments to modify or remove.
How Long Does The Procedure Take?
For a full microblading session, I schedule clients for a 3-hour appointment. This includes a consultation, paperwork, numbing your eyebrows with a topical anesthetic, and answering any questions you might have before we get started. The actual microblading portion of the session won’t take more than 45 minutes. It’s rare that a client needs the full 3 hours, but beauty shouldn’t be rushed. I make sure each client gets the time and attention their specific desires require.
Is Microblading Painful?
A highly-effective, topical anesthetic cream and gel are used for numbing before and during your procedure. Pain threshold levels vary from person to person and every effort is made to ensure you remain comfortable for the entirety of the procedure. Having this service performed during your menstrual cycle may increase discomfort during your procedure. If you are a frequent smoker, the topical anesthetics used during the treatment will not last as long. If you have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, be aware that this may affect your sensitivity tolerance to the procedure.
Is Microblading Safe?
Yes, microblading is very safe when done properly and your safety is of paramount importance to me! I pride myself in having an immaculate and sterile studio space. I only use single-use, disposable needles and supplies. This means that each set-up for each client is discarded safely after their appointment. My studio is thoroughly disinfected before opening each day and after each procedure throughout the day.I take sanitation and sterilization very seriously. All tools and supplies I use are from trusted, long-established, reputable manufacturers.
How long is the healing process?
The eyebrow area will be slightly red after the procedure and color will appear very dark. This is normal for the procedure and part of the healing process. The color will fade by up to 40% as it heals. In the following days, the eyebrows will continue to be dark and you will notice slight scabbing. Do not pick at the scabs as this may damage the skin and the outcome of the microbladed area. The eyebrows will lighten up in color as it heals. No down time is required after microblading procedure. It takes approximately 7-14 days for the brows to heal over, and about 1 month for the color to fully set in. You’ll notice the color is very light right after the two weeks after healing; the skin will have an opaque milky looking quality to it. This is known as the milk skin and is common in tattooing. This is due to the tissue still healing from the inside out even though the surface of the skin is healed. True color will reveal itself once healed.
How Old Do I Have To be To Receive Microblading?
Must be 18 years of age or older to receive microblading treatments.
