Laser Hair Removal FAQ

Hair grows in cycles (anagen, catagen and telogen), many factors influence its growth: Age, ethnicity, medications, hormone levels, and even body site.

All factors influence the length, coarseness, and the color of body hair. What we see depends on how many hairs are in their active growth cycle (Antigenic phase) and how long that cycle lasts.

Adore Beauty Studio uses the most sophisticated Nd:YAG System (Coolglide) to perform quick and long-lasting hair removal. The system emits light that is absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicle (melanin). The laser is “turned on”, for only a fraction of a second. The duration of the pulses has been carefully determined so the energy will be absorbed by the hair follicle and disables it. The result is safe and effective hair removal. The dead hair then falls out within 10-20 days after treatment.

Laser hair removal was pioneered after more than 30 years of laser research by physicians to provide safe and effective hair removal.

The laser parameters were carefully defined to safely and effectively remove the hair.

There is some discomfort with laser treatment but it is not painful. The laser has a chill tip that numbs the skin and protects it from any thermal damage.

For sensitive facial and body areas, we can prescribe a topical anaesthetic for you.

Lasers are precise instruments that can be adjusted to the exact parameters that will specifically disable the hair follicle.

The laser uses a wide beam, which treats many hairs at once. Because of this, large areas like a man’s full back, full legs or arms can be completely hair free within a few hours.

You will see immediate results that will last far longer than shaving, tweezing, waxing, chemical depilation, or other temporary methods.

Within several minutes of the treatment, the treated area will become slightly red and puffy. This reaction subsides, and within a few hours the area returns to normal.

Theoretically, damage to the hair follicle can remove unwanted hair permanently. Due to the nature of hair and the many factors that influence the growth of hair, results are variable. The effect of repeated treatments is accumulative. Most people experience a marked reduction in hair, or the hair becomes finer and lighter in color.

Yes, nearly always. The laser only works on anagenic phase (actively growing hair). Telegenic phase (resting hair) are not affected by laser. Depending on the body site, various percentage of hair are in the growing phase at one time.

Some sites require 3 or 4 treatments and some require more depending on the degree of hair thinning or reduction that you desire.
